Doug and I have been married for thirty years. In that time, we have gotten away, alone, exactly two times for one night each. The first time Doug's mom came up to stay with the kids (I think there were only three or four at the time). The second time was about three years ago, for one night, an hour away. We really didn't know what we were missing. Now we do! This fun loving, globetrotting couple, is my mom and step dad. They
kidnapped offered to take us away for 5 days, down the Oregon coast How could we say, no! We also had the honor of celebrating their 1st anniversary with them while we were gone.

And we ended our trip at Doug's mom's house, on his birthday, where our niece, Patty served a wonderful Halibut dinner with Creme Brulet for dessert!

At home things went very smoothly. There are no pictures, because I had the camera. Stephanie came for a few days with her clip board and to do lists and ran a very tight ship until she had to get back to work (but not without leaving detailed instructions for the kids). Mandy made sure everybody got where they needed to be between cooking, laundry, and writing a paper for school, and Alex did some cooking between studying for his finals. Everything was in good hands, even with a broken dishwasher and the water heater going out. They handled it all. Who knows, maybe in another thirty years we'll do it again!
