Signs of spring in our yard that distracted me from pulling weeds this morning.
The Mallards
After a bit of preening, Mr. Mallard was quite willing to strut his stuff for the camera
The Mrs............. not so much.
The camera is a Canon Rebel T1i. I used a 75-300mm telephoto for the ducks and all pictures are straight of the camera.
Lovely spring photos!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful flowers... I can see why you got distracted ;)

ReplyDeleteYes, we did use AAI. It is less expensive... however, you are very limited to this state if you are thinking kids from foster care. They say you can adopt from Oregon. It seems more complicated, but maybe not. We only had one referral from Oregon and it came on the same day as our twins referral came and we did not pursue it.
The people at AAI are super nice. Easy to work with and you do eventually get all your money back.
You have to be super persistent. Apparently they were representing us at the consortion (spell???) meetings, but until we asked for the lists of all the children in each region we never really knew what kids were needing homes. When I asked for the lists I realized that these were not the same children as on the adoption websites. I inquired on like 5 children on like the third list list we saw and the twins were on that one . Within 3 months they were with us. This apposed to inquiring on the adoption websites ( Heart Gallery, Adoption Exchange) where I inquired and sent our homestudy on probably a hundred children over several months. We were asked to consider a few other children but they were older than our youngest at the time and we felt that would not be right for her. I like AAI. I have a friend who has adopted internationally through them.
I think for us, though, I would be more apt to do foster care and adopt the ones that couldn't go back home knowing what I know now. However, that is a personal preference and nothing against AAI.
Are these your mallards? We have a pair and we enjoy them a lot!!
