Happy Birthdays to our March Guys!

These guys are seven years apart but both were born in March.
It doesn't seem that long ago that they looked like this,
but very soon that little baby will be "Marching" off to the Army!

Alex (age 7),  Tyler (about 6 months)

Apparently they both knew what they wanted to do by the age of 4!

Happy Birthdays, guys!  We love you very much!

COMBO PARTY

The Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza.  Yes, those are pickles! There were mixed opinions on this.

Two very difficult photographic subjects, but we love them anyway!

Happy Birthdays, Guys! We love you both!

HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY ALEX!

Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

THEY SURVIVED!

As part of their ongoing training as members of the county search and rescue team, Alex and Tyler left at the crack of dawn yesterday morning for an overnight survival training on a nearby mountain.
But first they reluctantly happily put on their packs and posed for a picture for Mom.

Don't they look excited and wide awake?  Alex, I guess you can't say that you are Tyler's big brother anymore, but you're still his older brother, so don't let him forget that!

These were taken by Tyler with his ipod.( Mom and her camera don't do over night camping on mountains in the middle of the winter)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALEX!

Happy 24th birthday to our oldest son.  We are very Proud of you!

Be strong in the Lord
And never give up hope
You’re gonna do great things
I already know
God’s got His hand on You
So don’t live life in fear
Forgive and forget
But don’t forget why you’re here
Take your time and pray
These are the words I would say

Empty Nest?

Well, not quite. We do have two empty bedrooms, though.  Mandy and Alex moved out last month.  We're doing OK though; they're just next door and we see them often.

So what can a family do when they find themselves with two empty rooms?  Well, we could have a den, an exercise room, an entertainment room, guest room, storage room, or any combination of those things.  OR, we could have two bedrooms to share with  some kids who are in need of a bedroom, and a mom and a dad and brothers and sisters.
So, I guess our den will have to keep sharing space with the extra groceries, we'll have to get our exercise on the trampoline or go for walks, and play games and watch movies in the family room.  Our guests will have to sleep on the couch and we'll store stuff in the garage or take it to Goodwill, because we're on a mission to find the little people who will fit perfectly in those rooms.

I've Been laid off....probably temporary, but nice while it lasts!

Apparently, with all that's going on in our lives, my meal preparation skills have suffered. Our meals have become, less than exciting, to say the least. Mandy and Alex, instead of complaining, have taken matters into their own hands. They have started taking turns preparing meals. Alex uses a cookbook he loaded onto his IPOD. For Mother's Day, he fixed grilled steaks and corn on the cob, rosemary roasted potatoes, and raspberry brownies! Mandy prefers the old fashioned cookbook. Last night we had a wonderful vegetable lasagna and french bread with real garlic butter!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALEX!

Friday the 13th has a bad rap! 22 years ago, on Friday the 13th, Alexander Douglas came into the world. There is nothing unlucky about that!

Jesus, Friend of Sinners by Casting Crowns

Jesus, friend of sinners, we have strayed so far away
We cut down people in your name but the sword was never ours to swing
Jesus, friend of sinners, the truth's become so hard to see
The world is on their way to You but they're tripping over me
Always looking around but never looking up I'm so double minded
A plank eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided

Oh Jesus, friend of sinners
Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners, break our hearts for what breaks yours http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9Kcm2OAWNA
