Happy Birthday Mandy!

A very happy birthday to our precious daughter who has always had wisdom far beyond her years, but can also bring comic relief to any occasion!

And to her Grandma with whom she came within a few hours of sharing a birthday with. (Grandma was born a few years earlier, though).

 We love you both!

for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.

But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy!

PUZZLE IMPOSSIBLE!!!!

1000 teeny tiny pieces of thousands of teeny tiny Coca Cola advertisements!

And, yes, the magnifying glass was necessary (some of us even needed glasses, too)!

And then.....every puzzlers nightmare........A MISSING PIECE!

But in the light of day, the next morning, the piece was found!

And, after countless hours, and hours, and hours,
and (well you get the idea).......

Our mission was successful!

SHE DID IT!

Mandy now has a Master of Arts in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Azusa Pacific University!
She makes us proud!

It's already paying off, too.
Just last night she learned how to wash lettuce and use a salad spinner!
We can't wait to see what God has planned for her.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Happy Birthday Mandy!

Mandy is 30 years old!
That does not even seem possible, because that means that Doug and I have to be a lot older older than 30!

So, after a busy, rainy, Sunday after a little weekend house guest left, we celebrated our first born!

And that evening, as if we'd had it special ordered for her birthday, God delivered one of His most spectacular rainbows to help us celebrate.

I can't think of a better way to celebrate her radiant, colorful, and whimsical, personality!

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Well, for people who don't like to travel, we've been doin' a lot of it lately!

Friday, not only did we go across the water, ...

we went over the mountains!

Mandy had to attend a conference for her graduate program that was held at a college on the other side of the state.  Unfortunately Mandy, like her mother, is directionally challenged, so Doug and I got to escort her to her destination.

I was not a lot of help, in getting us there and back.  I couldn't even program the GPS properly.  It kept telling us, "Turn left!", "Turn left!", and Doug kept saying that left isn't right (I knew that!).
I was, however, able to act as photographer while Doug and I entertained ourselves all day, Saturday.

So after a night in a noisy hotel with the worst excuse for pillows I've ever seen, we dropped Mandy off at her conference, and went off to tour a wind farm.

It was fascinating even though it was very very windy, but I guess that just means they chose a good spot to put 149 windmills!

This is the diameter of the bolts used.

We even got to go inside, but we didn't get to climb the ladder.

Here is one of the blades.  They don't look quite as big when they're up in the sky!

Doug and "Dexter" in the interpretive center.

So, Mandy got another graduation requirement out of the way, we got some alone time with our firstborn, and Doug and I had a good day doing something different.

Now, since we have some traveling experience under our belts we feel qualified in giving some traveling advice......."Always bring your own pillow!"

Jesus, Friend of Sinners by Casting Crowns

Jesus, friend of sinners, we have strayed so far away
We cut down people in your name but the sword was never ours to swing
Jesus, friend of sinners, the truth's become so hard to see
The world is on their way to You but they're tripping over me
Always looking around but never looking up I'm so double minded
A plank eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided

Oh Jesus, friend of sinners
Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners, break our hearts for what breaks yours http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9Kcm2OAWNA
