INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS
We officially became international travelers with our last field trip of the school year to Victoria, Canada.
Starting with an early morning ferry ride.......
We had a group planning session.................
And headed off to see the sights......
Our first stop was the Craigdarroch Castle.
The next stop was the Royal British Columbian Museum that held a wide variety of things to see.
After eating dinner at the Spaghetti Factory (on the left), we finally got to the, "best part of the whole trip".
The whole reason for traveling across the border to another country. The hotel swimming pool, of course!
The next day we visited the Bug Zoo,
saw a Canadian Duck,
a Canadian street corner protest,
and posed for some more pictures.
Then it was time to get back on the ferry for the long ride home.

KIDNAPPED
Doug and I have been married for thirty years. In that time, we have gotten away, alone, exactly two times for one night each. The first time Doug's mom came up to stay with the kids (I think there were only three or four at the time). The second time was about three years ago, for one night, an hour away. We really didn't know what we were missing. Now we do! This fun loving, globetrotting couple, is my mom and step dad. They kidnapped offered to take us away for 5 days, down the Oregon coast How could we say, no! We also had the honor of celebrating their 1st anniversary with them while we were gone.
We saw forts.........................
Lighthouses.........................
shipwrecks...........
museums.....................
waves.........................
waves..............................
and more waves..............................
breathtaking scenery.......................
and more breathtaking scenery...................
a real live WWII P38 pilot........................
Rainbows.....................
The Spruce Goose...................
And we ended our trip at Doug's mom's house, on his birthday, where our niece, Patty served a wonderful Halibut dinner with Creme Brulet for dessert!
It was amazing!
Our trip was amazing! We are very grateful!! We love, you!!!
At home things went very smoothly. There are no pictures, because I had the camera. Stephanie came for a few days with her clip board and to do lists and ran a very tight ship until she had to get back to work (but not without leaving detailed instructions for the kids). Mandy made sure everybody got where they needed to be between cooking, laundry, and writing a paper for school, and Alex did some cooking between studying for his finals. Everything was in good hands, even with a broken dishwasher and the water heater going out. They handled it all. Who knows, maybe in another thirty years we'll do it again!

Jesus, Friend of Sinners by Casting Crowns
Jesus, friend of sinners, we have strayed so far away
We cut down people in your name but the sword was never ours to swing
Jesus, friend of sinners, the truth's become so hard to see
The world is on their way to You but they're tripping over me
Always looking around but never looking up I'm so double minded
A plank eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners
Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers
Let our hearts be led by mercy
Help us reach with open hearts and open doors
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners, break our hearts for what breaks yours http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9Kcm2OAWNA

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
