"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." John 16:33
Yesterday Doug jammed his ring finger while cutting firewood. Overnight, it swelled dangerously around his ring. After spending this afternoon in urgent care, he is now ringless!
The wedding ring that he's worn for thirty years was cut off by several nurses who seemed overly eager to use the "ring cutter". I can only assume they were concerned about his finger, too.
So Doug will start 2012 without his ring, but with all his fingers, so there's always something to be thankful for. If we didn't serve a God who has everything under control we'd be a little nervous about what the next 364 days of the year will bring!
Jesus, friend of sinners, we have strayed so far away We cut down people in your name but the sword was never ours to swing Jesus, friend of sinners, the truth's become so hard to see The world is on their way to You but they're tripping over me Always looking around but never looking up I'm so double minded A plank eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided
Oh Jesus, friend of sinners Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers Let our hearts be led by mercy Help us reach with open hearts and open doors Oh Jesus, friend of sinners, break our hearts for what breaks yourshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9Kcm2OAWNA
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
